    Barack Obama News

  • Inspiration A-Plenty

    November 10, 2008

A google search or ebay browse will yield many artists renditions of of our new President-Elect. Here is another to add to the fray.

I am not completely satisfied with it, perhaps the next will be better. There will be four years afterall, of non stop coverage.

I am trying to get my sons to say his name whenever they see him. They know him now, from the pictures, the paintings, and the television. One of them has tentatively called his name. “Bama,” he says in an unsure voice. The other one though, refuses to say it. Instead each time he sees Obama he yells, “Papa!” This child knows damn well who his Papa is, but every single time, “Papa!” and he laughs. So he says Papa, and I say no Obama, he says Papa again, and I think, I wish!

    She Have Bad Mind

    November 6, 2008

This is a Jamaican saying to describe someone who thinks ill of others. It pertains to someone who is prone to jealousy and is unable to think well of others.

This woman Cherri, more like rotten fruit than tasty berry, finally reflects on the outside what exists within. She is only kind on the surface. She speaks ill of everyone once their backs are turned. She has sat in court beside the abusive husband of her own sister. She bailed this brute from jail after he attacked her own niece. It should not have been a surprise. This is a niece whom she has always treated cruelly, worst than all the others because this niece is the only one to have fought back.

On the rare occasions that I have seen her, I have ignored her. She does not matter.
A couple of days ago we happened to be in the same place and I accidentally looked at her for more than a moment. I was shocked at how ugly she was. She used to be beautiful. Not anymore. It is not just age, her face has become ugly. It is fitting. Now perhaps less people will be fooled by the seemingly kind exterior. There is nothing kind about this woman, nothing decent in her treatment of others.

Do I wish her ill? Hell yes! I only have bad mind towards those that deserve it, and she definitely deserves it. I wish her misery and pain until her dying day.

    I Am Stunned

    November 5, 2008

Yes I voted. Yes I believed he could win. When the moment came I celebrated, but after the euphoria I could only sit there quietly. It happened, It actually happened. Barack Obama is the next President of the United States.

I was with others who like me are immigrants to this country. For us it was more than just that a black man had become President. This is why many of us came to this country. Obama did not come from wealth or from a powerful family, and he has become the most successful man in the country. “America is the greatest country on earth,” I heard one say. Yes. Now when I tell my sons that they can be anything they want to be, it will be true.

Make no mistake, Barack Obama is an extraordinary man.

Still, this morning, I can not believe that it has happened. This beautiful man has achieved what many thought was impossible. He has achieved in spite of what some thought shouldn’t be possible.

Now black American men have no damn excuse. Don’t blame anyone for your misfortunes. Yes the road is difficult but if you don’t try, if you don’t make an effort to make something of yourself, you have only yourself to blame.

Barack Obama could not be President without the support of white America. Don’t forget that. They too saw an extraordinary man, not just a black man.

For those of you who did not vote, and I know of some, shame on you. You missed your chance to participate in history. You ought to be truly ashamed of dismissing all that so many have fought for. Once upon a time a black person was not even considered a person in this country. Once upon a time a black person was a white mans property. Once upon a time a black man was not considered a man. How stupid of you to not vote. How stupid of you.

After 3 hours in a constant drizzle and an eventual downpour, I am sexier. What could be sexier than standing up for what you believe in?

The mood was mostly festive. Neighbors greeted each other, children played, and cameras snapped to commemorate the event.

    I’ve done my part.
